Ampeg SVT-808HE - Rarest Ampeg cab?

They had a bunch of cabs like this in the 90s. 4x8", 8x8", 8x6", etc. All the manuals and specs are in the tech support library. SVT-48, 50, 806, 808, and so on.

As far as the question of finding replacement speakers, reconing the originals is probably the best bet. Either that or try to find a modern driver with similar specs.

Eminence doesn't sell recone kits for American Standard Series drivers.
Which is most likely what metal work the factory driver was based on. They only sell recone kits for Cast Frame pro series and cast frame Neos

The Beta 8a is a 2" voicecoil 32 ounce magnet.
The special design used a 30 ounce
Similar special design magnet for other Ampeg Specific drivers.

So they probably won't build you a 30 ounce Beta. But you could order a 32 ohm coil for the 32 ounce Beta 8a

Eminence custom shop adds 15% more cost to single custom orders. And can wind any needed voicecoil.

So no you can't use Ampeg Specific special design parts. But you can use standard parts and metal works.

Design is all parallel 32 ohm for 4 ohm
Also no reason you could use standard 8 ohm drivers and wire series/ parallel for the same 4 ohm load. Likewise be using similar sounding Eminence drivers. If it was a 2" voicecoil driver. It would be the same metal work as a Beta. Alpha is 1.5 inch metal work

Did these blow speakers like the swr 8x8?

My henry 8x8 never blew speakers....and had plenty of low end

i got one of the last 2 808HEs in the ampeg warehouse a year after they discontinued them, they also had new in the box old stock SVT non pro II's
. if i knew then what i know now i would still have 2 808HE's and both those NOS SVT II's. i played my 808 with an SVT 3

Im looking at one of these!

For 1400 dollar in mint condition I will get Ampeg SVT - 450H top and SVT-808He Cab.
Im used to playing Ampeg 810e, but want to have the oppurtunity to have a live rig since the 810 is in a practice space on the 6th floor with really tight long stairs.. And it misses wheels!

I also have the PF-800 head. But is it a good deal? And will it handle loud rock music?

I have one of these cabinets, traded an Eden 410 for it. It's an immensely powerful cabinet, but like others have said, the 8" drivers don't really have any authority lower than D, so 5 string basses might not sound great. I've powered it with a Hartke head and an SVT tube head and it's brutal. I need to re-tolex it because I tried it with some crappy glue and it's coming apart a bit. Also know that these are not plywood, they're OSB so they weigh a ton.

Which D? Low D @ 37hz or D @73hz?

D2 sounds good but not much lower. Low B on a 5string is not very loud. The specs on ampeg's site should give you an idea of the cab response.
