Alright, let's try this poll. Which Ampeg cab do you guys prefer for an SVT (Original/VR or CL)?
Let's base this on tone preference and not weight or dimensions.
(forgive me if i get some of the models wrong {E vs HE or HLF})

My cab of choice for my SVT-VR is not listed above. It’s an SVT 1540he; kind of a rarer cabinet these days or so it seems. 410 and a horn on top and a big ported 15 on the bottom. I really love the deep lows and highs that it puts out and is a perfect match for the VR. If I did not have this one it’d probably be a 2-15.

Totally forgot about this cab to be honest

I actually like the 610HLF provided there's an HPF in front of the rig. Without it, that cab gets loose and boomy in the lows. With it, it's the Ampeg sound with a litte more low-mid punch.
I used to play a 610HLF with the SVT350 and liked it a lot. I've only played that same cab with the CL once or twice and i get a lot more boomy. Maybe i just need to mess around with the eq a bit and have patience

I loved my 412he.

I A/B'd it with an 810e. The 412 has more mids, the 810 has more lows. Just a little.

Just enough to take the win. It just sounds a little meaner and fuller.

High Pass Filter brings that cab to life. Start dialing up slowly while you play. You'll hear it immediately when you get to the right frequency cutoff. Bang away on your lowest two strings while you do this.

Fridge hands down. The magic is in the height of the cab. Two speakers on axis ear level for clarity, 6 off axis for low end warmth.

Second place was the V4b 2-15’ reflex cab, for shear heft of sound. Best cab ever for when you don’t have FOH support and you are providing 100% of the bass for a larger room.

IMO, the Fridge, the 6-10 , and the V4b (not oj the poll) have built in dollys and slide rails and IMO much easier to transport that the venerable 4-10 cab, plus you would need a vehicle that could accommodate the size.

That said, the extra 40 lbs or so going from today’s 1-12 or 1-15 cab will get your attention if you can’t afford “Two Men and a Truck”….

I had the 412HE for a while. It was easily distinguishable from any of the 10" speaker cabs i own. Wasn't my taste though. I have to admit, i'm very tempted by the 212s. I think they're ported, right?
Yep, ported but the cab is still voiced similar enough to the 810 that I and many others find it a practical substitute for those times when a smaller cabinet is needed. But the Heritage 810 is still the best sounding cabinet I’ve had with it.
