Ampeg SVT Classic cab swap

Hey all,

Wanted to share my rig that I recently downsized and share some opinions. Found a 210he on the marketplace practically brand new. I didn’t know they made this cab and it got me kicking around the idea of downsizing but keeping the SVT classic sound. I was using a 410 / 115 together. The 410 is just ridiculously heavy & the classic doesn’t push enough watts for it to make sense. So once I saw this 210 I thought it would be a nice pairing that can save my back a little bit.

It’s rated 250 w so that’s where I want to weigh opinions. If I’m thinking correctly (happens sometimes) I’m running 2 8 ohm cabs parallel from the SVT classic set to 4 ohm which would be 150 w going to each cabinet, right? So 250 w is safe to run together with my 115. Otherwise I can upgrade the speakers in the 210 like I did to the bottom cab (eminence legend 300 w)

You should be ok in teams of not damaging your cabs or amp adding a second cab . What you may not get out of these two un matched cabs is equal volume out of each cab. And in general adding a second cab will not double the amount of decibels from the pair.

Yup, echoing what was said up there ^

You're fine as far as wattage goes, but your best bet for volume and compatibility is dual identical cabs. Those Eminence Legend speakers are beastly too! I had two in a Kasino 2x15s cabinet (size of an Ampeg 8x10) and it was an absolute monster....in both tone AND weight! lol

Sweet looking rig though! If you dig the 2x10 + 1x15 and it works well live, I'd just rock it out. Might be better if you threw in dual Eminence Legend 10's in that 2x10 cab though.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was originally planning to get another 15 cab to pair. I can always try it out later down the road. I’ll give these 10s a shot!

Plucky, I love the eminence legend! The 15 cab belonged to a good friend of mine who passed away 15 years ago. He was an early influence on bass for me so I had to incorporate it into my rig. It had the stock 200 w speaker but the foam was splitting on the ring. Swapped it for the legend & plan to restore the stock speaker eventually. I was looking at the eminence basslites or may try the legend 10s like you said!
