+ 1 to what Jimmy said. I have owned and played my share of tube SVTs and my Vietnam VR continues to be totally reliable and at least the equal of my old SVT2 nonpro.

ampeg svt classic fault issue help

i definetly agree that they dont make tubes like they used to, ive worked on many twin reverbs from the 70s that still had the origonal tubes and still sounded great, then ive worked on some brand new ac 30s that need tubes after a year. ive never a/b an old one vs a new svt back to back so i suppose i cant really disagree with that either, i just in general prefer vintage over reissues on most levels imho.
I wanted to put this out there. I have a CL head. About a year ago I had the same issue. Fault indicator blinking and shutting the amp down. Took it to a certified Ampeg repair center. Tubes were fine. It turned out to be a bad cathode resistor. It is actually a documented problem. I wish I could find a link for you. Its in the main circuit board. The parts cost less than five dollars. Tech time was about a hundred. It has worked perfectly everyday since.
Found it. Not saying that this is what is wrong with yours, but it is exactly what was wrong with mine.
