Ampeg SVT Head I Just Bought 1972

I had one of these 1972 amps about 10 years ago (in LA) that I totally went through to overhaul, retubed it and it came with a flight case, that I sold for $800. The amp was free to me from a bass player who had 2 other SVTs that he wanted me to go through and get working right. Oh well, easy come easy go... LOL!

I bought a late 70's SVT head in Lima Peru where my wife is from about 15 years ago for 300 bucks, needed a cap job and tubes. Used it last night.

I'm going to order 6 matched Tung-Sol 6550 tubes for it unless someone knows of a currently available 6550 that will match the original sounding tubes better.

My Heritage SVT's have JJ's in them, and I think they sound identical to my 69 SVT with the 6146b's. Honestly, I just don't hear much of a difference in power tubes at all. But I hear the Tung Sol reissues are good and you should be happy with them.

No I didnt see it and I could have bought several reissue SVT's cheap but I wanted a Magnavox built blue line.
Could have sworn that only Unimusic made Blue Lines and when Selmer/Magnavox bought Ampeg that they switched to black line because it was cheaper to make than those etched front panels. Does yours list the manufacturer as Magnavox or Selmer?

It’s on the lower back plate, like below.

More fotos and the head on top of my 74 CTS loaded cabinet. The 2 outer tubes are Sevalenta. Its in my storage unit down the street because I live up stairs and need to get help taking the speaker up and I plan on taking the head to the Bass Exchange in Encino Ca for a check up and bias after I get new 6550's and recap it. It needs a new power cord to.

I just pulled all the tubes and several of the preamp tubes have Magnavox printed on them in blue ink. The 12ax7 was switched with one of the 12dw7 tubes. I'm going to have them tested. All the caps are original including the large paper caps on the bottom of the chassis. I need to find a good readable schematic to download.
