Ampeg SVT-II appreciation thread

Btw, if any of you SVT-II owners are looking for a rack unit to put your amp in, I just ordered one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320957713492?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I have no affiliation with the seller. I'm just passing along this info FYI for those who may be interested.

It says it's made for the 2Pro, but the dimensions of the non-pro and the pro are identical, so I am expecting this rack to fit my non-pro perfectly. One thing I like about this rack is the vent hole in the side.

According to UPS tracking info, I expect to receive the rack by Mon Jan 7. Once I fit my non-pro into this rack, I will report back with the results.

That's a cool looking rack Sacto, installing a couple side handles would probably be a good mod to consider.

I agree! I am also a proponent of the Kart-a-Bag Super 600 folding hand cart.

Btw, I know that you play your SVT-II through an NV610. I recently acquired an NV610, and as soon as I receive the speaker cable I ordered, I plan to hook up the rig and make some music!

Did you order a Speakon to 1/4" cable?

Yes.

And even though this thread is about the SVT-II, I will derail slightly to share with my TB brethren that there is only one place I get my speaker cables from, and that is Event Horizon, and I only buy the Dominator Silver series. IMO, these are the best. Here's the link (scroll down to see the Dominator Silver cables):

I have no affiliation with Event Horizon.

For my SVT-II to Berg NV610 connection, I ordered a three footer with a gold 1/4" connector at one end and a standard 4-pole Speakon at the other end.

Just picked up one of these heads. It seems to be a pretty cool amp. The seller and I were discussing where the DI signal comes from. I assume that it comes straight off the preamp, since it has a pre/post button, rather than off of the OT like a 400 series Mesa. Am I correct?

Sorry if this was discussed before, but I can't recall seeing it in this thread.

IIRC, on the blanced DI:
PRE comes after the first gain stage, prior to Vol and tone.
POST comes after the ULTRA, Tone and Graphic EQ (if engaged).
All far before the OT.

How do you not have a pre/post button on yours? mine has one right in the front right under the ultra low bitton on the left. Later models had them above the graphic eq button on the right. I've never seen one that didnt have the button.

Mine... Love it & after Joe Kolla "The Tube Amp Guy" did his magic on it the beast growls like a lion. Im just too old & crispy to lug this thing around. So its goin to be sold here on TB ASAP & or traded for a SVT 4Pro+

Joe even gave me a detailed report of the amps performance after he did his magic. Said it was running better than great & and pumping out about 350 watts RMS. I got it home & started rollin g tubes through it. I must say shes one lush lady, had me blushing. If she wasnt so damn heavy I'd stick it out with her but at 42 years of age I'm out.
