Ampeg SVT-II appreciation thread

I think that's a good price especially with the tubes that are in there. Visually those 6550's look in good shape, the getter flashing isn't burned up so they probably have good life left.

Lately though vintage SVT's haven't been selling for what I feel they are worth so I would check out eBay and recent finished sales and get some rough sale values. You may be able to get the price a little lower with the bad volume pot.

Can I play with you guys!? Just got this beast.

The top one with the outlined Ampeg logo is older. I have an 89 with the non-detachable AC cable and no guard in front of the tubes. The guard is something I wish it came with.

I have to be very careful not to accidentally damage the tubes when coiling the cable back into the rack.

I played a benefit gig on Saturday and provided my SVT-II non-pro and Berg NV610 to the other two bassists. The sound guy, who is a friend of mine, plugged in my Heil PR40 and got a great mix. One of the other bassists was a friend of mine as well, and it was probably the best he ever sounded if I were to say so myself. :cigar: :D

First bassist played a Precision through it. Second bassist played some Soundgears loaded with Norstrands. I played an LB75 and Stringray HS 5 that night. They all sounded great with their own distinct voice, yet coupled with the unmistakable SVT mojo.

Hi, I own a SVT-IIP (only same preamp part as SVT-II) with a Spector since a couple of years, and love it for recording.
Right now I use a computer plugin for simulating a cab, which is far from perfect...

Maybe I'm going to make you laugh, but is the SVT-II "home friendly" for practice and recording with the appropriate cab?

I suppose the plugin is with some other amp other than the SVT II. You may be a little limited in finding a small bedroom speaker @ 4 ohms.
