Trying to record using my DI, I get tons of noise. After searching, several had mentioned that older Ampeg's had a real hot output on their DI's. Any other ideas out there? fixes?

What do you mean as "noise"
Is it a buzz, like whats known as 60 cycle hum. If so it may be a ground issue. Does it have a ground switch next to the DI section.
A buzz also may be the electrical outlet you are plugged into. For example if it's an older house and the outlets have poor a ground. Fluorescent lamp fixtures also cause buzz if on the same circuit.
A hot output on a DI, I think would sound like distortion.

The noise only appears when playing a note. It is not a hum. It basically makes the monitors fart out.
It does have a ground switch next to the DI. Earlier threads had mentioned adding a pad between the DI and the board.

I would say it was a hot output then.

If your bass has passive electronics try plugging into the active input if there is one.
Usually a bass amp with either have two inputs, (one for active and one for passive basses) or there should be a -db pad.

I appreciate your help. I just checked and there is no output level adjuster, the two inputs are marked normal and bright, I only have active basses and plug into the normal input.
I'm leaning towards taking it in to a tech and having it checked out and maybe add an attenuator on the output of the DI. I really want to be able to use the DI on the amp and not have to buy a separate DI.

I used one of these (2 non-pro) for many years, and whenever I tried to use the D.I. out at a festival or club the sound guy would tell me it was too hot and give me a portable D.I. box. I ended up buying a Sansamp which I still use today even with my Mesa 400+.
On my SVT-II there is a level slider to the right of the EQ. It goes from +10db to -10db. I believe the EQ needs to be on in order for this to work. I haven't used it so I'm not sure, but it may work.
