Ampeg SVT-VR

Hi,
A store nearby is selling a new SVT-VR for half its price. Should I do the switch. I was eventually going to change my traynor yba200-2 for a yba300. But now at this price it's hard to resist. An other familly owned music store is closing.

It's a shame if you can't have them both. I'm a huge Ampeg guy but, I can't recommend one over the other. Very different amps with their own personality.

Go play it and see if it's something you fancy before giving up on amp you know.

I Will try the amp in an hour but cant see the reason I would not love it.

@Hydron: The best sounding amp (to my ears) that I have ever owned was an SVT-VR. So I say buy it!

The amp sound great. only downside, I though It would have a little more clean headroom. After plugging back my traynor. They are really different. They clean headroom is equal or maibe less than a yba200-2 with lower gain preamp tube and JJkt88s. But when the svt starts to distort it's in a pleasant way. Its surely can get loud . The traynor is more cranky, less forgiving. To me the svt used all his power at the right frequencies. Full sounding amp.

I only jammed with my drummer. Will rehearse full band next week. Can't wait.

I have found a really big piece of ampeg 70s blue/silver grill cloth. I will build a custom grill for my Schroeder 1515L. I also have enough grill cloth for a 810 if I need it in the future.

I have a full band rehearsal tonight. Can't wait to see how it sounds.
