Ampeg SVT210AV Micro Classic Bass Cabinet

I added a pair to my arsenal. Started out building a "b" rig for some of my low volume work. Wanted something decent sounding yet easy to haul.

Dang. They sound good. Instant love for the sealed sound - they convey the rests / mutes better than I've heard anything else do. These cabs let that shine through. I was very pleased at how full the cabs sound together. Can't wait to get them out on a gig - my band usually takes October off - so its a bit of a wait.

Running a Gallien Krueger MB 500 and a J with chromes and Nordstrands. Text book '70's pop and country tone with everything flat on the GK. Really workable tone with zero effort! This little rig punches way above its price and weight class.

Umm, these things respond to good stuff upstream.

Tried them with my Barker B1 through a Thunderfunk this weekend. Two things from my "A" rig.

I bought them to go out on nights I didn't care to lug my main rig. The head I planned on using is a GK MB500. They really opened up with high quality amplification. Significantly more growl (while staying fat) and better dynamics using the Thunderfunk. Enough so that it was like taking a blanket off the speakers. No amount of knob twisting can get the GK to sound the same as the Thunderfunk.

Don't get me wrong, they sound very good with the GK. Good enough that I'll gig that combination. I'll also gig them with the Thunderfunk. The growl and dynamics are addictive.

I have a single 210AV, and I dig it, but I'm having trouble taking the plunge for a second one. Talk me into it :)

Currently gigging an EBS Classic 410, and its a perfectly capable cabinet, but would like a bit more punch, and easier monitoring. Could get a used Ampeg 410 Classic, but could also get up to 3 more 210AVs and build a kick ass modular 810 :)

The difference between one and two of these is pretty astonishing! The low end just blooms and they are still VERY punchy through the mids. I don't use a lot of highs (fingers only) but the articulation remains. I will gig with one on occasion, but I always wish I'd brought two!

I bought an Ampeg PF800 and one cab. Not sure what happened but the bottom speaker fried. The PF800 gives 400 watts to 8ohms but I didn't even run it half volume. Warranty wouldn't cover it. So, I am getting the speaker repaired. I just bought another cab (w/extended warranty from MF) I am hoping 2 will work better than one. I loved the sound though and got tons of compliments. Beats lugging my 810 and SVT4pro!. I love the PF800 too.

Has anyone noticed that these cabs have an astonishing capacity for punishment? I've been dragging my rev. A cabinet around for going on 4 or 5 years now and it's still punching way above it's weight. With the matching Micro VR it's good, and if you don't mind some dirt it will fill a bar, but running the 8ohm side of my 800rb through it has been a huge improvement. Bigger, fatter, cleaner sound that belies the diminutive size of this thing. The poor thing has gone toe to toe with a LOUD guitarist- cranked Super Reverb, Twin Reverb, Bassman, and Pro Reverb- and been at the least audible in a lot of situations. Last September we played an outdoor party and I ran the GK and that one little cab. It delivered- and survived. It's impressive.

I think running a single cab through that amp is asking a lot, especially if you're bumping up the lows at all. Part of what makes these things work is the natural roll off of lows. That means they're not getting pushed as hard for the same perceived loudness. I run a pair of them through an Aguilar 500 set flat and have never been short on volume. I've used that setup on gigs about as big as they come.

Use em for what they're designed for. You want big, bloomy bottom, get a ported cab. But these things are amazing for a sealed 10" sound in a portable cab. I use one for a low volume rehearsal, and two for gigs. I dig em.

Yeah...I think I cranked the bass up too much for the single cab. We are an AC/DC Tribute band and have Marshall stacks blazing. This particular stage was very small and I didn't have room for the frig so I brought the little guy but MAN it sure sounded good!

I posted this before elsewhere on here ... an alternative for the tippy, small footprint on these when stacked vertical in a less than stable environment... strap'em on a large two wheeled dolly and put a 1x3 under the front of the cab ... extremely stable ...
