Ampeg USA

HI I'm from the UK and a friend of mine had an Ampeg CL for sale on eBay..a lot of people interested but the one question that he was asked the most was is this a USA or or China made one. It was fairly new one so I believe made in China.. to which the reply he said in most cases was ...ok not interested.
I have used Ampeg amps always 2 SVT 2Pros in the past and now the CL Heritage so why do company's like Ampeg the founder of bass amps forever sell or have there amps made in China, to this day I have no idea , low work force cost maybe ..but your product name is never the same … Bsafe

To answer the question and using the Heritage as an example, manufacturing in China saves about 30% in cost.
I would think the same was true when they were made in Vietnam.
IME, it's the QC that is often times the difference in quality and reliability no matter where an item was built all things being equal.

It's often a matter of resale and validation. As Jimmy pointed out, they are listening with their eyes and want to brag to people about getting a good deal on a US made SVT.

The better question is - what 'musician' buys music gear to resale? Sounds like those kind of folks need to find a new hobby, or work in a pawnshop.
