Ampeg V4-B: Any mods to make more output?

And FYI... as far as i know, the B40 cabinet was more or less just like an Era 8x10 cut in half.

Yeah, it sounds fantastic! I do wish it weighed less. Even with the neodymium speakers, the cab still has some weight. I truly love it though and my LMIII just cannot match it in character and tone.

I'm intrigued about the Ampeg V4-B amp, but although from I've read, many find the 100W sufficient, I'm wondering if there are any mods (different tubes?) to hop-up so to speak the amp.

Seems as if those can be found for fairly cheap..

My '70s V4-B was the heaviest 100 watts I ever carted, but dayum, it was a loud 100 watts.

i finally got mine working. it needed to be recapped and then have a couple other parts fixed. it also needed new tubes. it is one of the 6K11 V4s. does anyone know when those were made?

As far as I know all V4s should have a 6K11 and it's used to as part of the mid-range eq function.
