I didn't break my budget either! That's not bad for hunting for all of a week... Now to pick up the amp and load it with 6550's.

The HLF isn't the loudest cabinet per watt on the planet. It will probably put out about the same volume level as the 115E with the main differences being its low end extension and voicing.

Started working on the head case today. got it to phase one.. fitment.

Not sure if i am going to wrap the sucker in tolex or get creative with aluminum welding a frame around the whole thing and staining the wood.. then torching it.. then staining again.. give it a really worn awesome look.. have some more thinking to do

I like crazy ideas so I vote for the aluminum trim, stain, and distressed look.

I'd do tolex. It just looks right. I notice you're going with the MTI-style box instead of the slanted front. That ought to look pretty cool. But I'd do tolex personally.

Bald faced.. for now just going to have the dead center dots. Until I figure something out. Have a firend who makes signs.. might have him do up some die cut lettering.

I also picked up the trim too. Going to cover the edges really well. .. would make tolexing really easy to cover up.. but I'm still digging the finished wood..

i think i am going to do the stain and poly with some burning and such. i figure if i dont like it... i can always tolex over it

Decided I am going to wood burn a sweet octopus into the top of the box.. and probably do a nautical map in the background before staining it. Outside will be a nice oaky color. Then I will tourch all the edges so it looks worn under the aluminm trim

Mostly done. Going to probably have a friend weld all the corners.. and I need to decide what to use for a grill and handles.. coming along nicely. I had fun doing this.. if anyone would have an interest in a custom box pm me.

I've gotta say, I don't think the HLF is a the right cab for it, though.

I gig mine through a pair of single 15"s - moves plenty of air (even outdoors) and sounds so sweet. .
