Ampeg v6b tone questions

Hello I play in a punk band, right now im running a Sunn Beta Bass with an ampeg 8x10. But I have the opportunity to snag a Ampeg V6b for a good price but not sure if it will be worth it. I have heard great reviews about how loud it is, but mixed reviews about the tone. I usually like a bass and mid heavy sound but crunchy as well and and breaks up easily.
Ive tried to find youtube videos of it but I have had no luck. Would anyone owning one mind giving me some feedback, or maybe even a short clip of their v6b cranked?:crying:

those are old solid state heads, and I don't know much about them. I know a lot of people don't dig that era of SS heads, and that the V6Bs weren't made for very long, and as such you don't find too many people using them. So there may not be many people on here to give a lot of feedback on them.

But for the punk band, it might sound good, so it may be worth it, if it's a good price as you say. I don't know much about the Sunn Beta other than they're pretty low wattage, so I'd choose the Ampeg based on that alone.

besides, it's an old Ampeg.

hope that helps!!

Thanks! the sunn beta bass although its low wattage is actually very loud and powerful, im just struggling to get more high end from it. Im thinking about ditching it and keeping it for a back up.
