Ampeg Venture V7 or Fender Rumble 800

Not able to try both.... Only the fender but I love the sound of the Ampeg SVT I played through before. I am open to others. I just liked the price, power, and features of these. Definity open to others.
Venture claims to get you the SVT Vibe; but I have never heard anything but a SVT get that Vibe
The 3 way switch for Ultra Low and High seems a smart feature
It has a nice carrying bag and footswitch you can add for about $100 for both
Fender Rumble seems to have similar features [sans SVT/B 15 switch] and is very popular and respected here on TB
I have a Mesa Subway Amp and designer has given Fender a thumbs up in price range; I believe he worked with or knows person doing work with Rumble series and mentioned his talent
Both should be fine but you may want to order both from someone like GC with 45 day return and keep one you prefer return other
it is hard nowadays to find Products you want to compare in Retail environment
You will be happier with the Venture. I am a huge fan of the Fender rumble amps and can't recommend them enough, but you will be disappointed if you're chasing that SVT tone.
How about Rumble 800 Combo + Ampeg SGT-di ?

I have, the 7 pro. Everytime I decided to get a real SVT, I brought my 7 pro to hear the differences between the two.
I always ended up keeping my 7 pro.
For my needs, 90% same tone for a portion of the weight, three times the power and no maintenance.
I gigged with an Ampeg PF-500 and then PF-800 for years into fEARful 12/6/1 and 12 sub cabinets. Wanting to switch things up, I bought a Rumble 800 head.
First gig with the Fender, I struggled to find a tone that fit with the band and sounded good to me. Even two bass player friends in the audience said my bass sounded lame. At the break, I plugged the PF800 in. I was happy and my friends said I sounded like me again.
My vote is for the Ampeg. I use a Rumble 100 with a lower volume Christian gig I do every week, but I plug a Sansamp into the power amp in. I'm just not happy with the Fender Rumble preamp.

Ampeg is my vote. I don’t own either of these heads, but I owned a PF500, own a PF800, and own a V9 (V4 preamp with SVT power amp). The 500 failed a few times, pre-Yamaha of course. I’m very tempted to also pick up a 7.
My experience with the Rumbles is really limited to store use. They’re ok, of all the bass amps out there, Rumbles are definitely one of them.
If you’re looking for magic, grab you by the leg hair, and snap your neck from bopping your head kind of tone, IMO you really need Ampeg.

OP, I don't think this thread is representative. Fender Rumble amps usually get lots of love here on Talkbass.
It's not my stuff at all, I've never been able to get a tone I really like when I have to play on a Rumble, but the majority of comments on other threads are very positive and it objectively offers excellent value for money.
It just has a strong "baked in tone", some people like it, other don't. For example I answered "Venture", but how could I know your taste?
OP, you should try it for yourself.
Note that I said "around here" not "in the global market". Unless we are assuming Talkbass trends are the same as overall market trends, but I doubt it.

Never tried the ampeg but was surprised by how good the rumble sounds when I used one. I'm normally a GK guy.
Thanks for all the input. I think after my research I am getting the Ampeg V7. Now, as for Ampeg cabinets.....How is running this through a 410 sound vs. running it through a 212? I know I can add to either of these in the future but not sure which one would be best for what I need playing bars and small/medium sized clubs. In addition, has anyone ran this head through the PF 410 instead of the a Venture 410? Just curious. Don't mind investing the $ but since I can't try these in person, I want to make an informed decision.
