Ampeg vs Aguilar vs EBS

Hi everybody! My first thread... I'm nervous... :smug:

I'm looking for a new amp, and I have 3 heads in mind: SVT-6, Agui AG500, and EBS TD650.

I can have the SVT6 for the same price than the SVT3, so I think it worths (double W), and I like the classic tone and the valves, but it's really heavy... The Agui is lighter (a lot) and I love the 2 channels, and also the distortion, but it's about 300 $ more expensive (here in Europe). And last, the EBS TD 650. I haven't tried this amp, but I've heard a lot of good things about it, and can get it used (it's almost new) for the same $ than the SVT.

Suggestions?

even though you may like the ampeg tone you wont like lugging it around to gigs, i got an aggie db750 which as far as i know weighs less than an svt and i tell you what that thing weighs a ton!


if it was me it would be between the aggie and the ebs and then i would find the one out of the two that suited me best, any amp with two channels is useful, and im sure you will like the ebs too but for completely different reasons.

The SVT 6 costs 1100 euros (1364 $) in Thomann Musicstore (www.thomann.de). The Aggie is more expensive 'cause there are just a few dealers here in Europe, and the AG500 costs 1375 euros here in Spain (1705).

I have to try it a couple of times yet, but I'm seriously thinking in buying the Aggie and a Schroeder 1212. What do you think about this combination???

Oh, sorry! I just realised that you're from UK! I thought you were from the States! Jejeje! :smug:
You can find the best prices in Europe in Germany. I bought my bass there, and it was 400 euros cheaper than here in Spain. Look at webs like www.thomann.de, www.musik-service.de, Link Removed, www.musik-produktiv.de,...

I would go with the EBS TD650, its the only piece of gear that I regret selling. It has many tones in it and can go from clean to meaty. Its louder than the ag500 and svt 4pro (havent played the 6pro except in the store, that said I still think the ebs is louder). The EBS can get many more useable tones than either as well. The TD 650 will also run at 2ohms.
