Ampeg with Hartke together

Hello.

I'd like to ask, if the Ampeg SVT 3 PRO head will be good cooperate with set of Hartke cabinets? Particulary Hartke 410XL (400Watts/8Ohms) and Hartke 115VX (300Watts/8Ohms)? Could I expect any surprises? And will it togehther have a good sound?

I run my MarkBass thru a Hartke XL210 box and it is sweet! I love these speakers, I need to add the XL115 when I'm gigging again. Unsure of your amp's rating but I assume it will be ok.

Mixing different speaker cabs is always a crapshoot. That particular pairing (1X15+4X10) while looking cool, is actually not that great and comes with potential problems (the whole 15 for lows and 10's for punch is a false and outdated myth).

The load to the amp is fine, but how they will sound and perform together - ?

I have been using an SVT-II Pro with a pair of 410XL Hartke's for 15+ years. They sound great. The only issue has been a loose dust cover causing a kazoo type buzzing, but that was easily fixed with some glue to re attach the dust cover. 8 aluminum drivers look pretty intimidating onstage IMHO

No, you can't do that.

It's pretty doggone punchy.

Billy Sheehan has a lot of high end in his tone. He runs the highs through a 15 and lows through the tens.

I had my Hartke / Ampeg set up differently. I used a Hartke LH500 head, with an Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab. It sounded ok.

410xl? Yes. VX115? Not so much. It's a budget cab and while I like Larry's other stuff, I hate budget cabs. They just don't sound good. You have a really nice amp and you'll have one good cab. Don't want to ruin it with a VX cab

Hey man the XL 410 and VX115 will sould just fine together. I had just about the exact set up about 10 years ago. The band I was playing with was a metal band and we did a lot of megadeth covers and the bass tone was just killer got a great tone with it. You don't allways have to spend a million bucks to get a good tone. I loved my hartke set up. Thinking about getting a set of Hydrive 410 cabs soon.
