Amps like the Bassman

look for a fender bassman 300 pro they are killer all tube monster rigs that are based off the sunn 300T. I picked mine up used in awesome condition for about 850. I also have the fender bassman 1200 pro all solidstate version of the 300 pro and that also rips but i enjoy the 300 pro more.

I have - and have done a LOT of gigs with my '77 Bassman 100. It is my favorite amp, and I've owned a lot of them. Having the right cab with an old bassman is pretty important for getting the volume you need.

I've been kind of on a quest to get that sound in a different package for a while. I really think a lot of the magic in that amp is in the pre and the power section and how they work together.

I recently got a fender TBP-1 pre amp and pair it with a big SS power amp. Great fender tone, and it sounds like a big clean version of my old bassman, but is still missing some of that magic (tube sag, natural compression, etc). That pre has a TON of features. I'm pretty much using the vintage fender channel only. It has a "distortion" channel that does a pretty good job of adding more of that tube amp feel - it kind of breaks up when you dig in hard, and just adds a little hair. Very nice rig.

Alembic pre amp would be a good way to go. I think Trace also makes a fender-ish pre amp. The LH Hartke amps would be a great option - I really want to try one. Love the simplicity and the price.

There is a mint TV 115 for sale on my local CL. I want it, but don't know that it would be practical for gigging.

I'm thinking the OP's after 2 SEPARATE inputs with 2 separate sets of controls. ... otherwise I'd be recommending the Super Bassman too.
I DO plug two instruments into my Super Bassman and it works fine. And, I s'pose you could set up the VINTAGE channel in one EQ and the MODERN or OVERDRIVE channel eq'd totally differently. They ARE footswitch-able ... so it'd work fine (& sound awesome) I usually plug my elec bass into input 1 and my keyboard bass into input 2 (which is a padded input iirc) but I've used elec bass and acoustic upright bass/ elec upright bass also in input 2. All work well.
Fwiw . ....my acoustic upright sounds fan-bl00dy-tastic thru the SB300 & Bassman 115s ! !! YOOOOOOJ!
