Amps with built-in / baked-in HPF

Hah, yah, no. When I am setting up FOH sound I usually have an RTA running on the channel I'm working on. If I see any kind of lack of signal or ripple that indicates an HPF is in the chain, I immediately run out to the stage and deploy a di that bypasses the HPF.

It doesn't happen that often thankfully. I want the full signal. with a minimum amount of electronics in the way.

Do that on my gigs and it'll be the last time you do one of my gigs.

Lol... Don't worry, I won't be doing any of those gigs... Don't you still have a hate-on for Canada, anyway? Besides, I don't think any of the venues I do would ever book the kind of bands you play in, even when you were in the Bowser band.

Sure, you can see how I'd deal. I'm not going to take a hit on the venue that books me to do sound because you insist on thinning out your bass tone to the FOH feed. I don't care what you do on stage as long as you don't overpower the FOH, as an FOH engineer.

...and how long you've been doing things has absolutely zero effect on how I feel about any of it. In fact, I find most of the younger players are much better educated and willing to go with whatever sounds good to the FOH as long as it doesn't affect their on stage monitoring.

not always but alot of times same thing with recording and younger sound engineers running the board.
they are more willing and open. not stubborn and set in their ways

definetaly not a attack on older soundguys, ive found some to be rather amazing.
then found some lost in the 80s and 90s and still making the same krap mixes for a long time.

one guy was a well known sound guy for metal bands. he toured and did monitors for countless well knowns.
ohhh you bet hes got alot to say. ive been doing this for 35 years LOL blah blah.

literally gated and reverbed every drum and clicked everything out to cardboard click clack.

like Dude. its a rock band not a metal band. Im so glad i just tuned and bought all new drum heads to sound like horrible double ply click clack cardboard kits. he even wanted me to stuff and remove my front head.....dude no, hell no that aint gonna happen.

soundguy night before made my kit sound amazing!!! and best monitor mix i ever had. removing my front head was never mentioned LOL

Does the HPF condition the “Pre” DI send on Genz Benz amps?

No.
