Double Bass AMT SP25B system. Almost zero output

Hi all

I have bought the above-mentioned system. I play through a focus/AI amp and cabinet.

When I use the AMT system the output is close to zero even with everything turned way up, which renders the mic close to useless.

Have any of you experienced similar?

Did you put a battery in the preamp or have the phantom power turned on?

I have tried both. With phantompower and with battery only! The output is the same

When the system is powered up there is a little red light on the back of the mic itself that turns on. If you don't see it, the mic isn't getting power. If you do see it and you still don't have any volume, you either have a bad mic or a bad preamp. Call AMT or take it back to where you got it..

Calivox! Only old models of AMT has the red light. I asked Ron, at AMT, about it, when I red your reply at the question of trygd.
When people recorded with the AMT the light created noise.
AMT took the light out to keep the sonic quality as high as possible.

I have an AMT but with other kind of problem. I thought it was possible to connect it into an ordinary amp. But it is not. ordinary amps is made for pick-ups, I learned.

I am not sure why this would be a problem. Although connecting it to a PA will probably result in a more "full range" sound, and although some ordinary amps might sound better than others, you certainly can connect it to an amp. I have.

I must have an old one then. Sorry. I use mine with an amp all of the time. I use it in conjunction with a pickup and when I blend them right, the AMT kind of masks the piezo-y edginess of the pickup. It really helps make the attack bloom acoustic-like instead of like a pickup.

I don't know which pre-amp you have, but in the super pre-amp I had several years ago there was a trim pot inside that could be adjusted to give more gain. You just need a small screwdriver.
