An $80 Jazz Bass, Would you get it?

After reading this entire thread, sorting through the "firewood" comments from people that have never played them, and seeing almost 100% positive feedback from those who have… I'm pretty sure I want to buy one! I actually liked The tone of the Ammoon in the video better than the Fodera, But YouTube videos aren't the most reliable sound sources.

As far as the people saying that you should buy one or two high-quality instruments and keep them forever… I get your point. But as someone who has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on top level gear (and I play multiple instruments, so Martin acoustics, hand hammered Zildjian K cymbals, maple drum shells, tube amps, Warwick and American Fender basses, Aguilar/Mesa/Eden/SWR/Markbass/ fender bass rigs, JBL pro audio, etc) I can tell you that I personally never get emotionally attached to gear and I always end up selling it anyway. I'm sure I could get $80 worth of enjoyment even if I gave it away for free after year.

That being said, I can't think of one situation in my life where I wouldn't rather have been eating a steak!

What are your thoughts on the bass after having it for some time now? Do you still feel like it was a good purchase?

Ammoon, might be good, might be bad. For $80 I'd probably roll those dice.

Cozart on the other hand I've heard better things about.

Never heard anyone say anything either way on Ammoon.

Great purchase. I've used it live a bunch both gigs and rehearsal, and I'm actually going to give it some studio time this week for my bands EP, see what happens. I'll try to post some before after clips.

I posted my $75 Vintage Mod Jazz and I have several other "reasonably" priced basses. That said, as much as I like them, I would certainly rather be playing my good instruments, and so I do!

If you are keeping count at home(or not) 7 pages and 130+ posts:

4 posters that actually own the bass- all have spoken positively about them.

Approximately 20 posts relative to what to expect.

Approximately 80 negative posts that have no experience whatsoever with this bass or company. Exactly 0 posts from same posters retracting their statement or at least acknowledging the positive posts and reviews.

And about 30 that can be described as "carrots".

"Listen with your ears not your mouth" is a saying I grew up with.

Seems a shame if the OP decided not to buy the bass based on the 80 or so posts that can politely be described as "filler".

I'm surprised the number of " No experience but I'll cry it down anyway" is as low as 80 posts.

Over here the saying is "listen with your ears not your eyes.". Best example I have of that was a blind bass test where the audience of bass players voted 2 £70 P-basses sounded better than the 57 and 66 Fenders did. MIM Fenders took 1st and 2nd place

Honest answer is I quit counting all the negative "filler" posts about page 5 and figured that was close given the posts that actually contributed something. I did enjoy the carrot posts, though!
