An original song I wanted to share

It's a funk rock song with a sense of humor in a Primus/Bungle/Ween/Zappa kind of way. I hope you all enjoy it.

Very enjoyable, I'm diggin' it. So many times when someone post "my new song...what do you think" most times I get through about 30 seconds, don't like it at all and move on. Such is not the cases here. Not only listened all the way through, but listened to it twice. Killin' track, great groove/feel, lyrics tell a cool story and slipping int to that 1/2 time groove for the ending & solo, very nice.

What did you use for drums?

That's a real drummer, me and him jammed through the song quick. And then I redid the bass and then put the guitars and vocals on top.

I'm happy with the way this song and my vocals are coming along and wanted to share it with you. I also think the tone of the bass and bass solo is pretty good too.

Also this song has some swearing and is NSFW.

Loved it! I agree with previous post about having a Tower of Power feel in the funk section. Your vocals are great, along with the bass.

Nice, bouncy tune. I don't think the intro is too long at all. Everything is just right and the parts all fit together very well. And that change-up at about 4:30 is sweet. Of course, I'm a prog/jazz/fusion guy, so you could do a five minute intro, or go completely instrumental, and I wouldn't bat an eye, lol.

Keep being you man. The performance is tight. All the parts sound clean. Clearly 5 string bass frequencies. I'd be really proud of the vocals too. I think you hit the more experimental end of the music well at the beginning and the get into a groove.

Solo is killer.

What did you mix on? It's fine on headphones, but sounds thin on laptop speakers (couldn't even really hear the drums/bass).
Been mixing on Fruity Loops

Yeah man, sounds cool. Love the singer.
This what my ears hear; EQ on the snare is very dark, no crack in the snare and hats are MIA. The groove would benefit from having those instruments eq'ed and sitting in a better spot sonically.
Thanks for the compliments and thanks for the input, I will take these into account when mixing.

Recording and getting a good drum sound is new territory for me so I am learning.

If I may suggest; a good way to get your bearings when trying to figure out how to eq drums, etc, is listen to a recording you love the way the drums are mixed, in the style of your tune, and try and match that as best you can. Reference material is always helpful, especially when you are getting started in audio production.
