Analog Delay

Jus, I was wondering if you have a favorite Analog Delay. I see that you have the MXR Carbon Copy and the Maxon AD999 as well as the Moog joint. Is there a go to pedal or do they all bring their own to the table. I also would like to pick a great Reverb. I saw that you use a verbzilla. I always found that pedal to be Sigur Ros in pedal form, which is great, but I was just wondering if you had another that you enjoyed as well. Hope all is well!

My favorite analog delay is a Boss DM-300 Delay Machine. Sometimes a pedal isn't the item. Other than that, I do believe the MXR Carbon Copy and Diamond Memory Lane are my fave analog delay pedals. My favorite other NON-analog delay pedals are Guyatone MD-2, Line 6 DL4, and my current fave, the Empress Delay.

Old Boss grainy reverb pedals are amazing too, but Verbzilla is super super great...very worth it!

Thanks Justin. I think I'm gonna go with the Carbon Copy and the Verbzilla.

On a different note...I found an Ampeg display in a Sam Ash in Ft. Lauderdale Florida with you on top. I'll post some pics when I upload them off my phone tomorrow. I tried to purchase it, but they refused to sell. Too bad.

Jimmy: I use tape delays when they're in a studio, but I don't own one. As a long-time Beck sidekick, I suppose it's almost mandatory.

Do you have any experience with Danelectro's "Reel Echo" delay pedal? I've been tossing around whether to save some space on my pedalboard and go with a carbon copy. The thing is that while the dano is a monster, I really like some of the controls on the Reel Echo that give it a tape delay feel (warble / lo-fi/etc). It seems like a compromise between the upkeep of a tape delay and the convenience of a regular analog delay.

What have you found that you're able to do with the tape delay in the studio that translates effectively into live performance?

I dunno the Reel Echo, sorry.

I haven't really had to replicate tape delay stuff live myself. I use it mostly in a producer/engineer capacity, not as a bass player particularly.

wonderin how ya feel about the guyatone md3. i just got one and love it. i know the 2 is grainy and ****ed up sounding. i kinda want one of those too! i love delay......

anywho....yeah thoughts on the md3.
