Andy Rourke: Isolated bass and drums to "The Queen is Dead" (1986)

Mike Joyce was a superb drummer and a perfect match for Andy.

This was hugely influential to me. I remember hearing this record for the first time. The way he does that descending little run on some of the turnarounds in this song is so cool. He's my favorite pickstyle player and whenever I play with a pick I'm kinda thinking how would Andy do this? There's a comical bluntness to his bass parts that I find so funny and awesome.

I remember a quote from Johnny Marr after the Queen is Dead record was released that, in his opinion, no other rock bass player could have delivered a performance like that (by which he meant the entire album).

The sad part is that M&M burned them on the money. Those tunes would not have had that bounce without them.

I agree! M&M were lucky to have such powerful and creative rhythm section.
