If it's a pretty big gig there's a pretty big chance you'll hear yourself more through the monitors than what you hear through your amp. So check ahead & see how big the PA system is.
And for f**k's sake there is nothing wrong with putting it on a milk crate!!!
I agree. Some folks get their panties in a wad over about stuff that the audience could care less about. If they are concerned with what you are using for amp stands then they must not be that impressed with your music.
