I think it's pretty funny and sad at the same time. The characters are described as dark, but when some kids watch the movie and see black or biracial actors playing the characters, they are disappointed. As the blog writer said, so much for their reading comprehension.
Just when we thought that prejudice against other nationalities went away, and we can focus on homophobia, there's always a couple dozen idiots who bring us back.
I never understood prejudice against race/beliefs. How can people disagree with things like this, and STILL hold true to their beliefs when almost the whole world disagrees with them? Are they honestly that stupid?

To be fair, dark to me can mean anything from Mediterranean and up - but that's only because of how pasty white I am
What gets me are comments saying stuff like them being black somehow ruins the movie. That's really messed up.

Wow. My kids had already read the book, then saw the movie this weekend, and all they said was "It was great!"

But I do agree with others that I'm not too surprised. Racism truly runs rampant all over the Internet. Even on normal sites like Yahoo! News, I've refrained from reading news story comments because there are so many racist trolls, it's unbelievable. Really sad

My fake-o-meter reading is in the yellow zone on this ... suspiciously fake, but not outrageously so.
Half of people are of below average intelligence. The quicker you learn this, the quicker you can go about living your life without worrying about idiots and their lack of reading comprehension.

This made me think of the (awful) TV version of A Wizard Of Earthsea, which also had dark-skinned lead characters in the book but got whitewashed for the TV version. Here's the author's comments on that production.
