this would be better off starting from scratch, or one of those kit type of deals carvin used to (still does..?) sell. all parts neck would be cool too.

it being a "Fender" means nothing at this stage - if it was a more original "from scratch" type of thing it would appeal more to the type of person who likes these types of things. fender folks won't touch that.

looks like the body shaping was actually done well if im not mistaken..... weird.

I don't know, to me it looks like he bought some knock-off neck compared to the real neck on the bottom. Note on the real bass there wouldn't have been room for his decals. The Craigslist neck has that "new Chinese copy" look to it.

I'd guess it's an All-Parts/Mighty Mite/Warmoth neck. The maple doesn't look Chinese at all.

1) "a Miami Artist" - So it's a one off, by no name. Doesn't matter how much you paid him to do it, one offs derive their value from the name. If it's a one off by Leo Fender great. If it's a one off by Pablo Picasso even better. But if you don't remember, know, or care to tell us who 'A Miami Artist' is, then it's worth what any other art major commands. Maybe you can salvage parts from it.

2) Dang, do you really need anything more than #1?

It looks interesting and different and it's artistically well-executed, and if you were a collector of odd, artsy pieces to put on your wall, you might want this. But that's it's appeal, and it's not worth almost 2 grand for that alone. As someone said, an artist's work is tied to their name and if the artist isn't named there's no provenance worth charging a premium for, unless you're really wealthy and you just really like this thing.
