another Fender Custom Shop bass

just alot of envious people that can't afford one.
Given I snagged a jaco custom shop used for $2,300 and it was the best bass buying decision I ever made. Hands down best bass I've ever played and I've played 100s of different boutiques. You'd have to pry that thing from my cold hands. Given I'm sure the Geddy custom is a good bass, I wouldn't ever pay half that. Maybe in a few years if I can find one used for sub $3k I'd snag it.

I am so tired of the term 1%er that is makes me want to vomit. I won't even go down the political road with that but give it freaking rest.

That being said, a friend of mine nailed what this bass is about. "There is a dork for everything." And he didn't even mean "dork" as a put down. We were discussing the silly things that he and I are really into saving/collecting at the time. As stated before, this bass is probably going to be bought be several people who don't even play bass. Rather than spend a quarter million on some ridiculous piece of art to hang on the wall, some Rush fan will buy this and hang it in his rec room. And if he has the money, go for it. Why do you guys even care about these things? Quit keeping score and live your own life. Mind your own business!

Well..if I may add in my .02

I can't fathom justifying this kind of expense..but if I did..it had better include Geddy Lee as part of the purchase. But I digress. The people at Fender know someone will pay for it and that justifies the creation of such a piece of artwork.

Artwork. Not Instrument.

'Nuff said. ;)

a thousand times this. I am a bass player, and a student. I don't even have a job. I have savings, and hobbies and things I like to spend money on. I am an enormous Rush fan, and I'm already starting the swear jar for this thing. My man cave is entirely Rush memorabilia
A high price tag doesn't make it "artwork"

Then I wonder how much a 'Geddy'ed' '74 Black Rick with all his modifications (bridge, tuners) would bring...
