Hi all,
I am continuing my search for the perfect "modern" flatwound string (for me that is). My criteria is fairly simple, I'm looking for sustain, clarity/punch, and a reasonable tension as I'm not a big fan of the bridge cable-like stiffness of some heavy gage traditional flats. I've narrowed my choices down to the dunlops and rotosounds, after having tried TI's and EB cobalts and determining that both sets are just too floppy for me. I'm aware that the R77's tend to be characteristically "bright" out of the package but how long does that brightness and clarity remain? How do they compare to the dunlops? For the life of me I'm unable to find an adequate demo of the Dunlops to where I can really hear their unique characteristics. Any advice would be appreciated.
