Another great, old bass line I somehow missed

Anyone else LOVE the bass line to Marshall Crenshaw's "Maryanne"? So much is unexpected and catches me off guard, but it all fits, and it's all great.

Marshall Crenshaw was such a vibe in the 80s. And that is such a great tune. That repeating bass walk up (G-A) into the Dm7 then into the C creates a nice motif. It really works!

Yeah, I got my tix for Pappy's. I've seen Marshall back in the days with Graham Maby, and also guesting with the MC5, Wayne Kramer, and the Smithereens. Even solo, and my lady friend at the time and I helped carry his guitars to his car. So, yeah, I'm a fan.

Ah, Graham Maby. His performance on the first two Joe Jackson albums is phenomenal. Made me start playing tapes with a pick (not exclusively, though).
