I've just acquired a marvellous Rickenbacker 4003. The previous owner had it set up lovely, and for an easy life I'm looking to stick with the strings it's currently wearing. However, I've been playing the thing non-stop since it arrived and they are getting a little dull.
Now, the previous owner tells me the strings are Dean Markley Helix SS. Research tells me these are exposed core strings, which mine certainly aren't!
I'm hoping someone can recognise these strings by the distinctive ball-ends - the E and D string are purple, while the A and G appear to be the standard bronze colour.
If it helps, there's no silk wrap at either end.
Any ideas?
