Another New Old Guy

I've been a bass player since 1982, when my best friend started playing guitar and talked me into trading my unplayed cornet for a bass guitar. I've played in a lot of local bands since then, mostly classic and hard rock (and yes, I did the hair band thing in the '80s). These days, I'm playing with an acoustic trio with two guitar players, in which I play acoustic bass guitar and cello.

Basses over the years:
- Lotus P-bass copy - my first bass bought in 1982, wish I still had it.
- 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 - rescued from a pawn shop in Granite City, IL in 1984, the one bass I'll never part with
- 2003 Fishbone Fire model 6-string - custom made for me by former coworkers from the days of the St. Louis Ampeg factory, best musical instrument I've ever owned
- 1999 Fender Jazz - no longer have this because the neck just never played well
- Squier Jazz - played this one for a couple of years in a couple of local tribute bands (it's in my avatar pic)
- Dean EAB Electric/Acoustic bass - used in my acoustic trio

I've owned too many bass amps over the years to recall them all (worked for Ampeg for 10 years). Currently, though:
Pearce BC-1 preamp w/ Billy Sheehan mod
Ampeg SVT-4PRO & SVT-610HLF cab
Ampeg PortaBass 210 combo
Carvin MB10 combo w/115 extension cab

I play 11 instruments other than bass guitar. Always interested in learning more.

I just bought an Anton Krutz 3/4-size double bass this week, and am looking forward to diving into that as well.
