Another new Skjold!!!!!!

Nice... the whaleback is my favorite Skjold look (since his designs are uber-modern and a little over the top IMO... why not go all the way:) )

I am a big fan of the 'bolt on single cut' design, and Pete and I have similar feelings on the subject, per a few PM's back and forth. To me, it seems that the primary advantage of the single cut design is to provide additional mass to the body of the bass, without making the body profile too large (versus anchoring the top half of the neck to the body... which quite a few luthiers (Chris Stambaugh, etc.) think is a bad idea regarding neck behavior, and also with very little sonic advantages.

So, the bolt-on single cut seems to be the 'best of all worlds'.... more body mass without the body feeling significantly bigger, and symmetrical movement of the neck on both the top and the bottom.

If I ever get out of my Jazz Bass style lovefest, I'm pretty sure this would be my choice for a 'modern' boutique type bass.

As a side note, the Ultimate Support GS-100 is a must have for basses with unusual body designs that don't fit on a standard 'bottom support' stand.

These stands are great... sturdy, low price, light, they fold up into a very small profile, and will keep that rather unusual, beautiful bass safe between sets! Just in case you weren't aware of this stand. They work great with MTD basses also.... with that unusual bottom mounted, slanted input jack.

I prefer the Hercules, 'cause the yoke folds over and they have that cool grabbing mechanism... same price, too. I love these stands. VERY high quality.

Those are good too... the Ultimate seemed a little more sturdy and well made when I compared them, but both work fine. That grabbing mechanism seemed doomed to break over time to me, but it sounds like that's not the case!

Edit: The other good thing about these stands is that the center of gravity is very low... they are virtually impossible to knock over..... that's a very good thing
