    Hello All,

Just stopping by to say hi! Found the forum from a google search. Now a little background...

I used to play bass way back in high school/early college days days. Was in a few bands off and on. Last one I was in was located in the Pittsburgh, PA area.

I sold everything I had (which wasn't much when your single and still living with the parents) and moved out here to So Cal back in 97' and have not really played at all since.

I have been talking about getting back to playing the past year or two. I finally made the decision to start looking for basses and a good practice amp over the Memorial Day weekend. I went back home for that weekend and went to go see my buddies band play. I know the bassist and he was going to let me come up and do a few songs. Unfortunaltley since I haven't play in so long I really didn't know and songs so I couldn't do it.

Right now I am just looking into getting back to playing. Maybe after a while I'll look for a band again.

    Take care,
    Scott

    Hey scott,

Im glad you didn't try to play the bag pipes of Jazz flute.
What do you see your self doing as bassist. Do you have songs in mind that you want to compose or are you looking to establish yourself in the local music circle? Or are you just looking for a cool way to pick up girls?
Who are some of the bass players that you like to listen too?

Hi Burnzy. I figured I'd come say hello in your introduction. Are you moving those fingers yet? What basses are you looking at?

It's always fun buying a bass -new things to explore. Let us know what you get.

Gear wise I'm looking used stuff. For a bass I'm looking at Schecter right now, C4xxx model probably. They seem to be the best bang for the buck right now.

Amps, I'm looking at GK, SWR or Ampeg. Either combo or amp and cabinet (15 or 2x10).

Any suggestions are more than welcome...:) Trying to stay under $500 for the most part.

The gear I used to own back in the day was a vinatge blue line era Ampeg SVT and 8x10 cabinet. I could kick myself for letting go of that amp...:crying:

    Regards,
    Scott

Man!*jealous* All the 80's and 90's hair metal bands are getting back together and touring over there! I moved to the wrong part of the world, although we are going to see Mike Patton so that is cool.

I saw Extreme back in the day. Pat has some funky grooves! I think I saw just about every hair metal band. I did a lot of tour following after high school. Followed Queensrÿche :)hyper:) for about 20-30 dates during "Building Empires" and the next tour(too early in the morning and I haven't had coffee yet). Saw a lot of motel rooms across the mid-west and the south. Eddie is good but Geoff's voice and Scott's drumming. WOW!
