Had you heard me fumble thru "Fire On The Mountain" you wouldn't be so impressed! You can say that, but getting through shows like that is pretty impressive.
Luckily, no one at the Petunia Festival seemed to mind.TalkBass has been independent since 1998. Add your voice.

Luckily, no one at the Petunia Festival seemed to mind.Cool. Got any advice/tips on how to approach these kinds of gigs?I throw together shows like this with folks that participate in a local jam I attend.
I've started to prefer it. Playing rehearsed material just gets boring after a bit.
You guys must either be freaking awesome musicians, have balls of steel, or really be broke. Going into a public performance totally cold and putting my rep on the line without even a song list to rehearse is either really bold or really crazy IMO. Best of luck to you both.

As much I'm really impressed with how you guys can get through tough situations like that, I'm also pretty shocked with how irresponsible BLs can be if they purposely make that happen.

Significant difference between that and no rehearsal no set list no nothing. That gig no problem. No set list no rehearsal no nothing? No thanks.I did a gig back in Oct 2016 with a 90's alt-rock band out of KC. My main band was taking some time off (singer had a baby) - so I put an ad on CL looking for fill-ins. Never met the guys until the night of the gig. They gave me the set list like a month in advance though, and I had heard 80% of the songs about a million times. Went great. Done a few country gigs where I only had a few hours of rehearsal with the guitar player beforehand. While stressful, I enjoy these gigs - certainly keeps it interesting!
