Looking at using a pair of powered monitors and sub through my little mixer to run the computer as a complete entertainment center - Music, TV, Movies, Computing, Games, and bass practice.

So far I'm thinking of these Yorkville powered monitors and sub.

Is there anything out there that's as good and perhaps a bit more portable/rugged, and will handle playing a bass through it?

Depends on how small/big you want them.

I use 5 JBL LSR25P as my Home theatre system. Very nice little active boxes. I used them to practice in front of the TV sometimes , with the sub , sound fantastic.
I use an RCF ART310A as my main bass amp , it's pretty small for a wedge/PA active box.Very portable and powerfull. Sounds a lot better than Yorkville. ( but more expensive)
