aside from the punchy 70'sh kinda tone I am getting from the Tokyo i got back, I am really finding cool things about the bass when compared to some others:
the evenness of the tone throughout the range.no matter where i play it, it sounds full and consistent.

the wheel adjustable truss rod... haven't really had to touch it much, but what a pleasure to work with! so easy to adjust, why don't more necks come like this?
i find that even with the slightest relief, there is no fret buzz. I like as straight a neck as possible for ease of playing, but will not sacrifice a buzzy tone for it. With this bass, there is no need for that compromise.

I have a Fender Am Deluxe that tonally hangs with this Tokyo. In fact , with the midrange control, the Fender pre is a little more flexible, but i have to admit the full size and feel and inherent tone of the Sadowsky makes it wonderfully different.
I am afraid to even come near an NYC.. too rich for me, but if it's even better that the Tokyo...
also, thi sbass has newed my faith in singlecoils, these things hardly hum , and they slice!
Good going, Roger and Sadowsky Japan! :bassist:

You are finding out the exact same things I am finding out. I LOVE the "evenness" up and down the neck, and from B string all the way to G string. The necks and fretwork are a thing of beauty. You are right, you can have ANY setup you like, and it'll sound great with no buzz (other than that caused by my poor technique!)

A massive +1 to this... wheel adustable truss rod and quick release battery compartments should be required of all bass manufacturers (maybe by act of Congress or something:D )

It's posts like these that make me want to order a Sadowsky. I can only imagine how good a sadowsky would sould through the AG500 GS112(x2) and DB750 GS412 rigs i'm slowly building.

OT: cool website AG, never noticed it there in your sig before :D

Adrian,

Are your F Bass days nearing an end?
well.... I have been in extreme Jazz bass mode lately, between the Fender and the Sadowsky Tokyo, so the F bass has been on vacation ( well deserved ) in its gig bag. Upon reading your post, i went downstairs and plugged her in to my little " music learning setup "- (a Tascam BT1 into a small mixer so i can monitor myself going over a mountain of new music i have to deal with this week ) same channel and eq as I have been using for the Jazz basses, and in answer to your question...
NO. The F bass stays.. i have had evil thoughts of perhaps letting it go, but no way.. it has amazing tone and playability. I can not bring myself to sell this bass. The enemy liked to tempt, but i rebuke it! ;)
the way it looks is-
Sadowsky Tokyo - stays
Fender - stays
F Bass - stays
Warmoth Jazz- .... well, something's gotta give!
Drew, the website just went up this week. I still have work to do on it, but i was excited to finally launch it.

yeah! well , the Badass bridge is a pain to string because its not quick release and it is actually easy to string thru the wrong hole if you are not careful.. but it looks so cool and massive, i love it!

Praise God! Dion lived in Miami when i lived there, a close friend played bass for him, his is a wonderful testimony. I almost subbed for my buddy in his band a couple of times.
Thanks for the kind words, the website is from the heart and my spirit. Not to glorify me, but Him !

I dig it. I checked out your site too.

I've learned through some first hand experience that Sadowsky's are very popular amongst musical/broadway style production bass players [my dream gig]. It was bad enough hearing and seeing Tom play his 24 Fret NYC 5er in Wicked [Chicago], and now hearing that you're loving your Tokyo. The versatility and just well, the tone-if they play half as good as they sound, i think i should quit denying the inevitable and prepare an order. :)

I think if this job i'm interviewing for tomorrow works out-an NYC 5er is in my future [in addition to some other stuff].

Take it easy-congrats on the bass & site.

Ditto to all the good things Adrian has posted about his Sadowsky. I'm loving my fairly new UV70, totally even up and down the neck and every note is very punctuated. My first string change took a little getting used to with the hole set up in the bridge but the bass was killing with the new strings. I had kept the original set on a little long because it sounded soooo gooood!

interesting, a few days ago, i was emailing back and forth with a gut that said " i also have a Sadowsky since i am the sub on a couple of Broadway shows, it's the bass of choice for that and you gotta have one "
I am actually playing my Fender more in the show here in LV, and the Tokyo gets a lot of my "other gigs " time lately. But i have played it in the show before, and it sounded great. Funny thing is, Francisco Centeño. who plays Hairspray on Broadway, plays a cheap Hartke 5 string! as his musical director says, though .. " he makes it sing "
the Sadowsky has a very even tone, though, i have been playing it all day preparing for another musical ( one performance )

and it sounds perfect for that.

yeah, i'd have to agree, that the badass 5 (and original 4 string) bridge looks totally fat! :D
