I just sent a paypal payment to a fellow in Buffalo who has a 1997 American Vintage '62 jazz.

As you can see, the finish is rough.
Since I'm not a fan of worn finishes, I've decided to get it refinished. But what color?

I mean it's really up to your personal preferences but if I had the chance to put a custom finish on my bass, I would do one of two things. Either a very dark red (not candy apple red which is what I have now) or do a dark cherry wood stain, for me I really love the look of a bass that is just stained wood, I think it looks really cool.

Well I voted Lake Placid Blue, but I think either sonic blue or surf green would look just as cool, especially if you keep the tort guard. I just recently put a tort guard on my Lake Placid Blue jazz and it's my new favorite color combo.

I dig the look of LPB/sonic blue/seafoam green with the tort guard/rosewood fretboard. If you're keeping those parts on, one of those would be my choice. After those, maybe shell pink, but I'm more of a green/blue guy.

So are you actually going to paint your bass the color that gets the most votes here on TB? Here's a poll. What color do you like?

I like all the colors in the poll equally. So while I turn the options over in my head, I like to hear other peoples preferences so that each color gets an advocate.
This helps me to carefully consider all colors.
Plus fantasizing about different finishes is fun, so I'm happy to share the experience with my friends here on TB.

Of those choices, and with that neck, I picked Sherwood Green. Though I think it'd look great painted orange. :)

I like orange alot. I think an orange stain would be cool. I reluctantly voted "leave it alone you putz" because I thought it was the best option of the ones listed, but since I never met you, I have no way of knowing if you are a putz or not. For all I know, you might be a great person.
