Anthony Jackson Alright?

As much as I'd like that to be true I have a pretty strong feeling that was ad copy and not written for those gigs specifically. I have no idea about the nature of Simon phillips' situation but Anthony jackson condition sounded as if it was very serious. I definitely am praying for a full recovery for both.

I've been fearing it would happen for a while. I sure hope he's okay. 2016 has been absolute poopie for musicians. If we lost AJ...

Okay, just read. He is recovering from a stroke and is having speech difficulties.

https://m.facebook.com/ajbassfans/

I didn't see anything on that page about him having a stroke - I heard someone else say that too, but it appears to have been removed? Just unsubstantiated rumor? Search "Anthony Jackson" and "stroke" on google and nothing comes up other than an unrelated Anthony Jackson and videos about strokes. I really hope that that was a rumor and that their illnesses were temporary and that the November shows are real! Either way, I hope they both become healthy again.

I can actually see this being the case - sometimes Yoshi's puts up really old ad-copy in their descriptions of the artists, like previous lineups, etc. Don't believe everything you read, eh? But that goes for the stroke report too...

Well, this would definitely be one of those times in life where I would not like to be correct and I hope he's well.

I do know that he's very private and the person who posted about him having a stroke has been a very close friend of his for a long time. He must have removed his statement (I'm not on Facebook, so I'm only going by anything available publicly).

Change of Bassist On “Spark Tour Fall 2016”

Anthony Jackson, the bassist of “Hiromi: The Trio Project” was undergoing treatment this summer in order to be able to rejoin the Fall tour.
However, his doctor strongly suggested that he promptly seek medical attention, which unfortunately means he will not able to play on tour for the foreseen present.

We would like to offer our sincerest apology to all our fans who were eagerly looking forward to his performance.

Hiromi and Simon Phillips have discussed the matter and decided to continue the tour with a new bassist until further notice.
We pray for the speedy recovery of Anthony Jackson.

Hiromi, Simon Phillips and the new bassist will strive to play a phenomenal tour and we appreciate your continued support.

2016/10/13 ~ 2016/11/5 Bassist: Jimmy Johnson
2016/11/7 ~ 2016/12/18 Bassist: Hadrien Feraud

Message from Hiromi

To our fans,

I am truly sorry for all the fans who have been looking forward to seeing Anthony Jackson perform with us.
Unfortunately, we came to the conclusion that Anthony should follow his doctor's advise and keep focusing on his treatment in order to get better as soon as possible.

I really wish for his speedy recovery.

Simon Phillips and I decided to continue performing the scheduled tour by welcoming bassists who will be an amazing fit for this project.
I promise that I will give everything I have for each performance to be able to make a great concert.
We are looking forward to this exciting new musical chemistry.

See you all soon and let's share a great musical journey together.
Thank you very much for understanding.

Hiromi

Change of Bassist On “Spark Tour Fall 2016”.....

I saw Anthony play with Hiromi, he will be sadly missed, and I wish him a swift and full recovery.

Now - I could never play with Hiromi and Simon, but I think this is a good opportunity for some of you boys and gals that really know how to play!

Thanks hieronymous for the post.

I almost flipped out.

Then I finished reading and saw this. It made me feel so much better...

I meant on the tour! But we both get it. He is one of the ultimate bass players ever. He did not look "perky" when I saw him ( one of his last gigs before the incident I believe ) and I truly hope that some R&R will get him right back in the saddle. He is one of my biggest inspirations. Ever hear AJ on the J Scoffield album Whos Who? If not, check it out.

Oh my goodness!:crying: I know simply living is most important, but a stroke means there is a strong possibility that AJ has lost at least some of his ability to move his hands and hold his bass.

All I can say is that we are all human. Eventually our bodies fail all of us.

I sure hope Simon Phillips recovers. He is a lot younger than Mr. Jackson.
Well Doc you know Anthony had a stroke barely a few years ago and while he had seem to obviously recover well enough to play he also had briefly went back to a 34 'inch scale bass because he had mention that he wasn't physically able to play and facilitate the 36' inch scale model he was playing at that time because he was recovering from that stroke during that period.

I did not know that.

I'd go see this with Jimmy Johnson if they come to my city.

4 or 5 years. Not that much younger.

I just got home from seeing The Hiromi Trio.
I was hoping that A.J. was going to be there.
Not hearing of any updates as to his health.
Hadrien Feraud was playing.
Simon was in rare form.

His condition is really being kept secret. I understand wanting to be private, but dang; we just want to know if he's okay! A lot of people can't wait to hear the master hit the scene...
