Double Bass Anthony Jackson RIP

I get goose bumps every time I listen to "I Was Meant To Love Him", Chaka's version of the Stevie Wonder song on her solo debut. In my opinion it's revolutionary bass playing. It certainly revolutionized my approach to electric bass.

He's also probably one of the few electric bassists that was able to garner some respect from the jazz community and bassists like Ron Carter. His playing (and, let's be honest, his words) DEMANDED it.

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in a very intimate setting at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor back in 2006 and was able to meet him afterward. Such a gift to have had that experience.
