Any 8-string bass players out there?

I use a Dean Rhapsody 8-string. Also my two Hamer 12's as below.
I find they work best with a pick and also with some 10" speakers in the rig to get that brightness out.
You CAN play them with fingers, but to really accentuate the brightness of the drone strings and to get that clang, I use a pick.
The 8 is a lot clearer than the 12, but not as big as sound, obviously.

I used to have a Dean Rhapsody 8-string and ended up trading it. Now I have a Fernandez Gravity 8 string but years of sitting in a case really messed up the neck. I had the neck fixed and added new pickups. I gig it occasionally though I wish the neck were in better shape.

Once upon a time, this bass was a cheap Galveston 4-string. My guitar tech converted it for me. The nut is 1 3/4", so the spacing is a hair tight, but I manage pretty well with a pick.

I tune it bB eE aA dD and it sounds thunderous.
