I would think of it as it possibly be the last bass you ever buy. Take your time, decide what you really want. Play them, consider buying used, and be ready to act on a deal if you find one. Avoid buying a bass because it seems like a step up from what you have. Buy the bass that you really want based on your personal criteria from the get go at a price that you can recover if you should need to. At $800 you have a lot if options on top level used gear if you are patient. Impulse buying can turn into regret very quickly.
