Any Benjamin Orr fans out there??

I think he's a pretty awesome bass player, lead singer, and song writer!

A lot of you probably don't like the super glossy atmospheric 80's sound but I personally love it lol!

Benjamin Orr was great, and gone way too soon. Loved his singing on Drive. I love the more atmospheric sounds of the 80s.

Ric Ocasek did a song with a similar feel as Stay The Night (IMO) around the same time.

Ben Orr was a fine bass player and vocalist with dreamy good looks. He bought a bass from me that had belonged to Phil "Fang" Volk, Vox Teardrop, and we had a nice phone conversation. I had the bass for sale at Gruhn Guitars and he called to confirm provenance.

I had met the band a few years before at their concert in Paris. Several of the band members came the next night to see the jazz group I was in, that was a cool hang. IIRC Greg Hawkes sat in for a tune.

They were a funny band, wore their influences on their sleeves, but were a gateway to new wave for the hesher crowd.

He was never flashy, but always played the right part at the right time, interesting lines still. I always liked this come-out-of-nowhere riffing at 3:58…

Just What I Needed is a perfect pop song. Orr's vocals and that indelible guitar solo are two big reasons why.
