This is true. Avalon & Axis are being turned into a House of Blues - which is cool because we really need a venue of that size in Boston - only bad thing is that the HOB is going to be a seated venue - blech!

This is true. Avalon & Axis are being turned into a House of Blues - which is cool because we really need a venue of that size in Boston - only bad thing is that the HOB is going to be a seated venue - blech!
The Abby in Somerville is also a cool spot to catch a rock band. Boston is also experiencing a great Alt Country phase. The Chicken Bone in Framingham was once exclusivley blues is now throwing in a mix of rock bands.
Sorry I missed this link earlier, I would have picked up you and the misses and brought you out to see a friends band that played Saturday night with a loop through some of the nicer neighborhoods.

Well, we WERE - but I think it's over now. Even Jake Brennan has moved on to other types of music.
Now I'm seeing a lot of Electronica influenced Rock acts - think In Rainbows by Radiohead to get the idea.
There's also a dose of Bowie-esqe / Suede type bands running around like The Daily Pravda (who are great btw!).
We're having a bit of an identity crisis right now if you ask me - there's no MEGA Boston band like in the past with The Cars, Aerosmith, or The Pixies, etc. so everyone is scrambling to find the next new sound.
I can't wait to see who that winds up being - we're due!
