Any Denver TB'ers out there!

I'm gonna be in Denver at the end of the month. I'm 99.975% positive that I'm going to move there. I'll be going to the snarky puppy show and the flaming lips while I'm there.
What else should I get into. I like jazz, blues, soul, R&B, funk, rock. Any clubs I should check out? I'm bringing a bass. Any open jams I should check out? I'm a chef, I like good food. What are some nice places to eat, both high end and the nitty gritty the locals eat. I'm a sucker for an old school diner and a good dive bar. Anything else you think I should see?

I have friends there to show me around, I'm just looking for some other perspective on the city.

Hi @aaronius -- there's a bunch of stuff you should check out when you're in Denver. For clubs and concerts, it depends on your musical taste, but I recommend the Hi-Dive, Larimer Lounge, Lost Lake Lounge, Syntax Physic Opera, 3 Kings Tavern, and Dazzle or El Chapultapec for jazz. The food scene has exploded here in the past couple years. Try the Populist, the Plimoth, Work and Class, Il Posto and Acorn for higher end fare. Otherwise, try Uncle, Williams & Graham, Gozo, Comida, Steubens, or Ace. The craft beer scene is off the charts here too: TRVE, Former Future, Great Divide, Our Mutual Friend, Crooked Stave, and too many others to count. Actually, I just realized you could hit a bunch of these all at once if you go to The Source on Brighton Blvd--Comida, Acorn, Crooked Stave are all housed there, as is Babette's which is an incredible bakery. Dive bars: PS Lounge, Meadowlark, Lions Lair, Squire. To get a feel for the city, check out Broadway around 1st Ave, Larimer Street, and the Highlands neighborhood. There, I just gave away the town's secrets.

I live in Fort Collins, about an hour north and don't get to Denver that often. A friend of mine is the drummer in Soul School. They are a kick ass R&B band. If they're playing, go see 'em. Any show at Red Rocks is probably worth seeing.

I hit the Blue Bonnet on S. Broadway for Mexican once in a while, but I'm really out of touch with the foodie scene. Westword is the free weekly paper with all the event info.
