No idea what would cause that.

Solution: Shop-vac. Spray some Raid into it. Turn it on, and suck 'em in. follow it up with more raid. Cap the nozzle, and wait till the next day to empty it out.

And I'd let it sit out overnight.

Those arachnids are harmless though, IIRC.

Seriously though...that is just freaky. It does look like they are making a shillouette of a bass gyuitar though...maybe they came to hear you play?

I'd use a vacuum cleaner. Takes the little suckers right off and no need to call the fire dept. And you can dump them to your neighbours house.

I came across a setup like that when I was out hiking near Austin once. It was weird because the whole thing was kind of pulsating because all the spiders were bouncing up and down a little.
