Unless things have changed, Ed's made his off-the-road home in Nashville since joining the Mavericks.

Things have changed. Yes, I'm still with the Mavericks, but we moved back to Tucson. Nashville was not our place in the world. It's a great place to be if you're young, ambitious, talented and are career-minded. I am none of those things. We didn't care for the climate, and we wanted to be around friends and family. Being in Nashville made life somewhat easier for the band, but everything else was a drag... so we're back in Tucson, and loving it. I'm not around much, I'm still retired from teaching and gear demos, and I have a longer commute to the bus, but it's well worth it to live someplace that feeds your soul. I also get to play some gigs with friends here when I'm off the road, something that would never happen in Nashville.

I finally saw the Mavericks at Knuckleheads in KC last summer and it is my new gold standard for what a great band can accomplish live. Raul Malo is a national treasure! Ed’s upright sounded awesome and he breaks down his creative problem solving sound strategy in his latest BP column. Love Blues You Can Use and R&an Gold!
