Thanks! Yeah, the girl really impressed me- she walked a lot of sketchy(narrow, steep and or off-camber)stuff but went nuckinfuts on the jump. The gap is a good 8-10 feet. My ballerina..
The boy always busts it out, although his shots didn't show it so well. He launched a couple of pucker-inducing *OH SHEEEYOOT* ones but I didn't get them.
I was thrilled w/my pic- better than p shop.
In other news, a bud is soda-blasting an old Schwinn 24" cruiser frame for the girl's clunker project- it will also double as a loaner for summertime pub crawl/pedal action.

I hope were all riding too much to post- I biked to work 3x this week, haven't MTB'd much. I will say I do not recommend Hippie Tech Suspension Service- they have had my Sherman fork since December, stating it shipped nearly two weeks ago, not answering/returning calls... USPS tracking says *shipping info received*

That really sucks about your fork and that's cool about biking to work. I hope my job in the future is close enough so where I could do that. My last ride about three weeks ago rendered me injured. I fell and my right foot got sandwiched between my bike and a boulder. I still can't put my full weight on it. Just been swimming lately to keep in shape. Also, I've been trying to sell my DH bike but selling a XL bike is always hard.
Yeah, the fork thing is pissifying.. I wouldn't trip if dude would just respond. Email, phone call, smoke signal WHATEVER. On the DH bike, I wish I could grab it- I wanna do some shuttle action this summer

Rode the new gear ratio for the first time today. From 32/16 to 24/16 takes a bit of getting used to, it feels way too easy at the minute!

Haven't been riding much, weather's too miserable even for me. We've had a lot of snow. So much that the trails aren't getting compacted. Even highly traveled skidoo trails are still too soft for non-fatbike traffic. I have been scouting out terrain for new trails on snowshoes though. I've also been drafting a proposal for said trail and investigating land ownership/management for the area in question. Here are a few snowy pics from last week's mission. Even with the snow you can see that there's loads of bare rock up there.

Do you have the lower half of a domestic cat? Seems like an awful lot of reach for such little saddle height, that is one delightfully tiny saddle as well.
I'm pretty much a straight roadie for now, but I stop in here since the other thread hasn't popped up in approximately forever. Fat bikes are looking really interesting, but any bike money will probably go towards the road for the foreseeable future.

Haha, it's not a saddle. It's a bum protector, only there to stop the frame injuring my nether regions.
The bars are 790mm wide and 110mm stem so it's nice and controllable
sucks when you have to turn your bars 45 degrees to get it through the train doors...
Alright, soliciting advice for brake levers- gonna try Avid BB-7 on the 456. The Avid levers are cheap and look OK, but I'll gladly pay more for better. Wanting stiff/flex-free... Shimano? Paul?
There used to be a bunch of companies that made CNC replacement brake levers for just about any brake but none of them seem to still be doing it. Straitline and Dangerboy come to mind. By far the best brake levers I've encountered are the Hopes. Super stiff, light and perfectly set up for 1 finger braking. Sadly, they only make them for Hope brakes.
All of the Avid levers I've tried seemed pretty flimsy. That said, I ran juicy 7s on my Uzzi for 5 years and never broke or bent a lever despite some spectacular crashes.
Also Pricepoint seems to have a lot of brakes on sale right now.

And of course, you're right- not a ton of choice in V/mechanical disc levers out there. What there is leans toward *light/superlight/flimsy*... I'd prefer *stiff/strong/lots of leverage* . I looked at MTBR's brake reviews but found nothing specific to levers.
Thinking I'll PM Mr Trials-bike(w/apparently a mech disc on front...)for his thoughts...

I just pulled the trigger on a new On-One 456 EVO frame ... super psyched!!! Hopefully I'll get it and have it all set up by the end of the month. Just doing a frame swap with the parts from my CinderCone.
