Any one familiar with this TR?

Hi there, I'm looking for double action Truss Rods for my new build and I stumbled across this one:

It's not what I'm used to see around, have any of you tried something similar? Know how it works?

Feedback greatly appreciated.

No previous experience, and there won't be any in the future either.



It comes with detailed installation instructions, right.

The principle is sound in theory, but the margin for installation error is zero.

Using wood that can be glued to the neck as a thrust bearing is doomed to fail though.

Thanks for your input T. Looking at it makes me think that it may rattle easily. Anyway, I'm not taking chances with it, it is more out of curiosity.

Are you just having a need to use something different? If not, just order one from LMI or Tber Martin Keith, or Grizzly for that matter, and have a ball making some dust....LOL

That's the one that Warwick uses. It's a good rod. More difficult to install than MK, LMI, or Grizzly; IMO.

Just out of engineering curiosity, nothing else, how does it hold with such a narrow bearing surface?
Or is the user supposed to fabricate two bearing halves to be installed?

With a metal insert that narrow I'd kinda understand it working almost as long as a regular TR, but with ~60% contact area on wood, I don't.

If anyone has the installation instructions, please do post 'em here. If a major company (to me anyway) like Warwick uses 'em, there has to be something I don't get .

It's not it. It's because it's a local (EU) supplier. I buy regularly from the states, no problems in getting the stuff but sometimes taxes kill the deal. So it's just to have more options.
I forgot about Martin, thanks for that one.

About WW using them. I acknowledge that a major brand using something sort of gives credit to that thing. Ironically was WW who has recurrent problems with their TRs on their basses produced during the 90' (I don't remember exactly what years)

As I don't know a lot about TRs I thought It should be installed as a traditional TR but now I'm less sure...

You want a curved channel and a strip of wood to cover it. The brass nut must be secured in a route with perfectly tight tolerances so the truss will work in both directions.

-the rod is officially the same from warwick (banzai buys them from warwick)

-banzai has no manuals

-warwick don't give manuals

but in the warwick's webpage there is a video -about changing old TRs- in which in the first seconds, it can be seen that the channel is curved (as mikeyswood says) so, i'll do as mikeyswood says (review when it's done )
