Any one here make it to pro?

Why does Spin Doctors sound so darn familiar?
because you for sure already heard them: Invalid Link Removed ;-)

PS: that thread made me realise that we (sorry for the generalisation) have a strange position towards fame... I was never interest in fame, or in famous people, but knowing that Johnny A is on here is still kind of a strange feeling. I have seen staind 2 years ago and I'd never thought that he could be reading posts on this forum. It's not the fact that he is here that is strange... it's the fact that I didn't think of that possiblity before.

Speaking of Spin Doctors and being off topic, the "Two Princes" drum tone is probably my favorite recorded drum kit.

Yeah I was in a band that covered "Two Princes" (and a couple other Spin Doctors tunes) when that song was HUGE so they were pretty much required listening for our band back in the day. I remember when my band went in to record our demo and the engineer asked how we wanted the drums to sound and we put on "Two Princes" and said "Like THIS"!

However many years later, I still love the song. The drum track now sounds a bit "overprocessed" to my older ears but the playing is still amazing (and the bass work too, of course).

To answer your question; GN'R was mainly a Sunset Strip band. Duff was from Seattle, and they played all over the West Coast, but they were based in L.A.

Isn't Reggie Hamilton on here? And Steve Bailey (FretlessSurfer.) I'd consider them pros.

Ive heard of both of them, but I can't remember where from.

metallica bassist. im a huge fan of his. i wish i looked like him onstage ! johnny a. staind.

Speaking of Johnny A.

Trujillo is a beast. He makes the bass his slave, for lack of a another vulgar word.

BTW Johnny A has some mean recorded tones. Don't remember seeing Staind live, but always loved hearing them come on popular radio. Bass always was a driving force in the songs I heard.

Got to play " Little Miss Can't Be Wrong " with Chris Barron. He opened for my band:eyebrow:

Dude has a great voice, but had the worlds worse sounding acoustic guitar and an upright bass player that was decent.
And Mark's slap and pop on that song was quite a challenge. I ended up learning the roots and doing my own thing. They amount of funk on that track to too much for this guy.

Phil Buckman is also on the forums on occasions. He's posted a picture of his rig from when Filter was playing one of those late night shows (George Lopez, perhaps?).

He's got some interesting accomplishments under his belt. I believe he does the voice overs for Carl's Junior commercials. He also did voice overs for an episode of Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job, which is pretty darn awesome. He's got a decent acting resume on IMDB, as well. I still dig the Tim & Eric thing the most, though.

And, of course, Juan Alderete is on here once in a while. He's been mentioned before but it bears repeating. He's madly talented and has an awesome arsenal of basses and a killer rig. The Mars Volta is absolutely sick.

I've always liked Staind, and not just sayin' that b/c JA is here and there AND plays Spector. ;) They were about the biggest thing in alt/radio rock in the early 2000's. But yeah even with his Ibbys he always sounded great.

I still listen to Break the Cycle pretty regularly. Is pretty much awesome all the way through and was the "summer album" for me in 2001 during college. Was one of the best times in my life and so that record always sticks with me. :bassist::bassist:
